Alliance upgrades unreliable WiFi solution

Guests at Mezzidakia experience a great culinary journey through the eastern Mediterranean with every visit. When installing a new mobile pos system, the owners knew they needed a reliable solution that would enable the staff to provide fast, efficient and professional service at all times. With previous bad experience with WiFi, the owners turned to Alliance Till Systems for guidance.

The Customer - Mezzidakia, Glasgow

Mezzidakia is located on St Vincent Street, the ever growing central restaurant hub of Glasgow City Centre. The name “Mezzidakia” is inspired from the Turkish word “meze”, that historically found its way to Greece from Turkey many years ago. The flavours you will find on the menu are inspired from the dishes of Turkey, Morocco, Lebanon, Persia and Greece, taking you on a culinary journey through the Eastern Mediterranean.

The Challenge

The owners of Mezzidakia understood the benefits that a handheld ordering system could bring, but have experienced problems with standard wifi connections in the past in one of their other restaurants.

"Alongside an excellent menu, it is important to our guests that the food is brought to their table on time. This requires good service staff and the right tools to help them do their jobs. We were looking for a mobile ordering system that worked – but we definitely did not want a WiFi-based system. We tried a WiFi system in one of our other restaurants and it constantly crashed."

Wifi can be affected within establishments due to human interference, thick walls within the building and even odd shaped rooms can cause disruption to the connection. With this in mind, they insisted on a solution that did not use wifi. So after speaking to Hervé at Alliance Till Systems, they decided to go with his recommendation to implement a radio based solution equipped with Orderman 7 handheld devices running PocketTouch software from ICRTouch.

The Solution

Alliance Till Systems installed the following solution:

  • 2 x Aures Yuno terminals with TouchPoint software 
  • 6 x Orderman 7 handheld ordering devices with PocketTouch software
  • 5 x Kitchen Printers

The Results

The restaurant has 40 tables and can sit up to 120 people, so it was important to ensure customers had their orders on time and table service was impressive. PocketTouch does this by flowing the orders seamlessly straight from the table direct to the heart of the kitchen and bar, enabling a quicker table turnaround and efficient service to the customer.
